Inspirational Reflections and Ripple Effects

Every Tuesday I try to come up with a new topic to touch on… 9/11 just happens to fall on Tuesday this year….

I can still remember my experience with 9/11.

I was thousands of miles away from ground zero. I didn’t have any family nor friends nor casual acquaintences from New York let alone remotely involved in the day’s tragic events. Yet, like many others, I stayed glued to my television all day.

I had no idea how this day would impact me personally. I still don’t know all the facets of my life it has touched.

I do know, however, that I promised I would do my part to make each day a little better. At the time of 9/11 I was a single mom relying on public assistance. I was struggling just to make ends meet… but I was trying. Something inside me clicked that day. It instilled a need to try harder, to do more, to reach further, and to make something bigger and better happen in the life that surrounded me.

I can’t even begin to describe the path I then took… I can’t draw a road map for others to follow. Yet, I can share what I have gained.

Now I am married to a wonderfully loving man. I am blessed with 3 beautiful children. I am able to work from home creating my happiness art that not only makes me giggle, but hopefully touches someone else along it’s quirky way. My life inspires my art and through my art I am able to help others by supporting various causes all year .

What a great way to spend my every day!

My life has definitely changed. Can I claim it is all because of 9/11? No. The ripple effect of that day on my life, however, will forever be felt. I will always remember that long day of watching and thinking and personally growing and promising to be better.

Each day I try to remember that life can change in a split second. I often become caught up in the moment and forget the big pictures. Yet, I try to make a daily goal to remember that I can do something better and I can help someone else.

Cards for a Cause

Hi all,

October will be here before we know it, so I wanted to get a head start and share an idea.
I hope you’ll join in.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month – traditionally I create designs sold on a variety of items and most prevalently, t-shirts. I donate the proceeds of these designs to support BCA and I hope I help spread awareness.

This year I’ll be promoting something a little different.

“Send a lil love” to promote BCA.

I will be offering stationery, note cards and greeting cards for sale featuring the theme “Pink”.
Some designed by me, and some by talented designers around the globe.

You’ll find a variety of topics to choose from and a fun selection of “Pink” happiness to share with friends and family.

How YOU can get involved:

Shoppers:
Buy a “Pink” card
I’ll donate .50 to the Susan Komen Foundation

It’s that simple.

Then send your lil’ bit of love to someone special and spread the smiles.

Affiliates:
For JGD affiliates, simply help promote the “Pink” collection and earn your standard commission.
Again I’ll donate .50 per card sold.

YAY PINK!
Watch for this special series to arrive after September 14th.

Penguins Helping Peru

The August 15th earthquake in Peru has tens of thousands displaced, and killed at least 500. Families without shelter nor medical supplies — they need our help. Our good friends over at unEarthedTees.com have started an initiative to help and the penguins and I wanted to join in.

unearthing150.gif

So we came up with our own little plan to get involved…

Peru Penguin

From now through September 30th 2007, when you buy any of these 3 featured penguins, at least 50% of the proceeds will go directly to support Peru Disaster Relief. Colorado Day

Today is Colorado Day. Colorado became the 38th U.S. state during this week in 1876. I am a 4th generation with 3 kids — the family’s 5th generation Coloradians. The state’s red river dirt is in our blood.

I’ve moved away and lived in a number of other states over the years, but I always manage to come “back home”. Colorado is where I’m ment to be.

Some of my favorite art of Colorado:

JGD iPhone Experience

I recently had the opportunity to check out the new iphone.

I’ve been an avid Mac fan and user for years. When the ipod came out, my husband finally started to see the light. So when he heard about the iphone, it was immediately added to the calendar and the wish-list budget.

Friday, June 29th the ipod was released and my husband was in line with the rest of the eager future owners.

Although I am determined to believe I will never need such a fancy phone, I had to play with this fabu gadget for a few minutes. As always withh mac products, its extremely easy to use. Navigation is nearly second nature to one’s index finger. Click here and you’re scheduling on the calendar. Click Click and you’re mapping out your next trip on an interactive map. Click and wipe over here and you’re surfing the web, swish… zooming in on the details.

After a few minutes of simply poking around, I hopped on over to the web browser and checked out my small corner of the internet. I was completely giddy. My websites, my products, my shopping experience all in the palm of one’s hand. How much more fun can ya get???

A very clean, clear picture.

The penguins look fabulous if i might say so myself ! 😉

Easy shopping…

One other site I had to check out… GoodeGirls.com

I couldn’t be more proud. Even with something so small, Apple seems to make everything look just a little bit better.

Thanks once again for a fabulously fun new must-have.

Breast Cancer Awareness Petition

Always supporting the cause…

breast-cancer.gifIn January 2007, Senators Olympia Snowe (R-ME) and Mary Landrieu (D-LA) and Representative Rosa L. DeLauro (D-CT) reintroduced the Breast Cancer Patient Protection Act of 2007 (S. 459/H.R.758). The bill would allow a woman and her doctor to decide whether she should recuperate for at least 48 hours. Some insurance companies are trying to limit this to an outpatient procedure… Sending women home mere hours after this difficult experience.

It takes 2 seconds to sign this petition and is very important … You only need to give your name and zip code, please take the time and do it!

Lifetime Television has put this bill on their web page with a petition drive to show your support.
