State of the Goodies – JGoode has a new blog

in Random Musings

It’s time to be more me, I say. I have had a blog of some kind since late 2005 or early 2006, I forget, although I’ve been online with a website in some form since around 1997. I’ve had this particular domain for a few years… and now I’m combining the experiences all in one place. I’ve moved my “main” blog from my business shopping site, JGoode Designs, to this domain, JGoode.com so I can be me. That sounds a bit odd I’m sure, but I’d really like to talk about a lot more than just my doodles on t-shirts. The more I thought about it, the more it seemed confusing and a conflict of interest to just ramble on about life on the same site as my goodies for sale. Yet, life’s rambling is what my designs are inspired by.

I don’t know if this is the right move. Some pros suggest that talking about one’s life is dull and shouldn’t be done on a blog. I think, if life is dull, you’re doing something wrong. Every moment is a new opportunity, it’s just a matter of whether we are paying attention that it’s happening. I can’t promise that I won’t be sharing poopy diapers or dinner recipes. I’ll probably mention mundane daily concepts from time to time. That’s what makes my day and my thoughts and my view… mine.

I don’t know if I will make a difference or make sense or make any kind of impact. But I do know that there is more to life than doodles, and I’d like to be a part of those conversations… Afterall, there’s more to JGoode than just a pile of links.

lotsofme-and-friends

You can expect more conversations, more thoughts and more ideas. Hopefully I’ll have more sharing, techniques, observations and lists of great things. Maybe I’ll even have list of my lists… of lists. I hope to talk more about how I do what I do. How to promote your own art and sell it through print on demand – Programming and the obstacles it whacks upside my head – Things I’ve learned about marketing and fabulous people I’ve met along the way. I hope to point out resources I’ve found useful and methods I’d been able to grasp… Oh sure, I will still talk about my designs and things you can buy – grinning goodies to give as gifts, etc. etc. and all that fun-ness. Every day is grounds for a new conversation… what will we talk about tomorrow?

This change, for me, is also about doing something “on purpose”. I am intentionally talking with you – not at you – with a real goal of sticking with it for no other reason than to get involved. No marketing plan or set agenda.  No more of this guessing where I am or what I’m doing. No more wondering if it’s right or wrong. This is an intentional step and I’m happy to make it… what’s next, I have no idea!

So here we go, into the world of talking – out loud – on purpose – more often. Someone bringing snacks?

Welcome to the new JGoode.com
